Registration at Vaishno Devi is not paperwork — it’s the gate. The Shrine Board’s own pages set the system: every pilgrim registers and collects an RFID-based Yatra Access Card; online registration runs at online.maavaishnodevi.org; a free yatra slip issues at the Yatra Registration Centre near the Katra bus stand (6 AM–10 PM); and no one proceeds beyond the Banganga check post without it. Checked 01 October 2026.

The practical sequence
- Register online before travel (the portal handles the RFID card issuance flow) — or walk into the Katra YRC on arrival.
- Carry the slip/card and ID — the RFID card tracks movement on the track, which is also the safety system.
- Start the track through Banganga with the slip ready.
- Keep the card until the return — the board’s system uses it for the round trip.
Frequently asked questions
Is online registration enough, or do I need the Katra counter?

Does the card cost anything?
The yatra slip is free per the board’s FAQ; the RFID card is part of the registration system.
