🛕 About Chamundeshwari

The Chamundeshwari temple sits atop Chamundi Hills (~3–5 km from Mysuru city centre), where tradition holds that the goddess Chamundeshwari slew the demon Mahishasura — giving Mysuru its name. It is a major Shakti Peetha and the presiding deity of the Mysuru royal family. The temple is reachable by road (vehicles go to the top) or the traditional 1000-step climb.
