🛕 About Grishneshwar
Grishneshwar — the twelfth and southernmost-adjacent Jyotirlinga — sits at Ellora, 1–2 km from the UNESCO caves (reported), making it the rare Jyotirlinga you can pair with world heritage in one morning. The honest caveat governs the page: no official trust timing page surfaced — the reported ~5 AM–9 PM windows are visitor-level, labelled as such. Checked 02 October 2026.
The essentials
| Item | Detail | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Darshan (reported) | ~5 AM–9 PM | Reported — confirm on site |
| Sanctum practice | Men often enter directly; modest dress; no photography inside | Reported (reviews) |
| Ellora pairing | ~1–2 km; caves 9ish–4:30 class, closed Tuesdays (reported) | Reported |
| Base city | Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), ~30 km NW of it | Reported |
The Grishneshwar structure
The temple is compact — a rebuilt 18th-century-class shrine by the village of Verul — and its yatra is really a double: Jyotirlinga darshan + the Ellora caves (Cave 16’s Kailasa temple is the monolith worth the whole trip). Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar) is the base city, ~30 km away, with its own airport and station.
