🛕 About Kamakhya

org states the core rules directly (no photography inside the temples; rituals performed only by hereditary Shebait priests) and even the Ambubachi Raktavastra distribution. The operational caveat: the darshan page 404’d at our check, so timings are reported.

Two project warnings shape every visit through 2028: a reported ₹500-crore Kamakhya corridor under construction (access disruption likely) and a new Nilachal ropeway announced (senior-friendly framing). Checked 02 October 2026.

The Kamakhya structure

The temple crowns the Nilachal Hills above Guwahati; the Peetha ecosystem includes the ten Mahavidya temples on the hill itself. The Ambubachi Mela — the June closure-and-reopening festival — is the year’s event, and the Raktavastra (the goddess’s red cloth) is distributed free through authorised Shebaits during it (official note — beware of unofficial sellers).

Frequently asked questions

What are the timings?

Reported morning 5:30–1 and afternoon to ~5:30 — official confirmation pending.

Can I take photos?

Not inside the temples — official rule.

Is the corridor construction a problem?

Reported yes, through ~2028 — budget extra time for access; the ropeway project (when built) may change the approach entirely.
