The Vaishno Devi track carries everyone who comes — and the Board runs a layered assist system to make that literal: battery cars on the motorable stretches, board-registered palkis, ponies and pithoos for the whole climb, and a helicopter senior quota.
The fare rule that matters: carrier rates are Board-fixed but posted only on physical signboards and Assistance Counters — anything you read online (including this page’s circulating figures) is an aggregator number to verify at the counter. Checked 02 October 2026.

Choosing the right assist
- Battery car = the modern default for the middle stretch; combined with walking, it halves the climb.
- Palki = the full-carry option for those who cannot walk; registered carriers carry ID cards (official).
- Pony = faster but jarring; not for back or knee problems.
- Helicopter = the top layer; senior/specially-abled quota is a deliberate Board facility (reported).
