Rishikesh reaches most easily through Haridwar — the real rail hub 20–25 km downriver (reported) — or by air into Dehradun (DED, ~21 km). The Delhi drive (~240 km) has compressed to a reported ~3.5 hours on the new expressway. Rishikesh’s own station (RKSH) handles light traffic only, and the town core is pedestrian — Ram Jhula and the ghats are walking territory. Checked 02 October 2026.

The last mile
The riverside core is foot-only: vehicles stop at the Ram Jhula/Laxman Jhula approaches, and the ashram belt is walked. Pack for the lane walk; porters and luggage-rickshaws bridge the gap.
