Bet (Beyt) Dwarka — the island where tradition places Krishna’s kingdom — sits 30 km and one sea-crossing from Dwarka town. For decades the crossing was a small ferry from Okha; since February 2024 there is also the Sudarshan Setu, a 2.32 km cable-stayed bridge reported as India’s longest, inaugurated by the Prime Minister as part of a ~₹980-crore project. Both crossings now serve the island. Checked 02 October 2026.
The two crossings
| Route | Detail | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Ferry from Okha | Reported 6 AM–7 PM; ₹10–30/person; 20–30 min | Reported — tide/weather dependent |
| Sudarshan Setu (road) | 2.32 km cable-stayed; Feb 2024 inauguration | Reported |
The island visit
The darshan focus on Bet is the Kalyanrai temple (tradition), with the island’s shoreline and dwellings around it. Practicalities: Okha is a 30 km drive from Dwarka; boats fill with pilgrim waves — mornings are calmest; the bridge makes half-day circuits trivial for drivers but check current vehicle/tourist regulations on arrival, since post-inauguration rules have been settling. Elders: the bridge removes the boat-boarding challenge entirely — the elderly guide’s preferred option.
