Maharishi Valmiki International Airport (AYJ) is served by IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air and Alliance Air (as reported). Direct sectors currently include Delhi (the most reliable, near-daily), Mumbai and Ahmedabad; Bengaluru and Hyderabad are mostly one-stop, and frequencies change season by season — re-check when booking. The airport-to-temple distance is the one number we can’t yet pin: sources conflict between ~7–8 km and ~14–15 km depending on route. We’ll verify first-hand and update this page; plan 25–40 minutes by cab as a working assumption, clearly labelled as such.

Ayodhya’s redeveloped pilgrim paths — Ram Path (12.94 km), Ram Janmabhoomi Path and the Bhakti/Maryada/Dharma paths (PIB, 2024) — channel road arrivals toward the temple core.

Arriving: the last kilometre

  • From Ayodhya Dham Junction: the temple core is roughly 1–1.5 km — a 15–20 minute walk or a short e-rickshaw ride (reported). E-rickshaws are the city’s default hop; typical short-hop fares of ₹10–50 circulate in travel reports but are unconfirmed — agree before boarding.
  • From the airport: cabs and app-based service (Uber is present) run to the core; a prepaid counter is reported at arrivals.
  • Parking: private vehicles park at designated lots outside the core and pilgrims walk the pilgrim paths; exact parking fees were not verifiable — expect signage on site.
